Lance Stephenson, Coney Island basketball product, released after arrest for assaulting girlfriend

Lance Stephenson, now with the Indiana Pacers after making a name for himself as a city hoops standout, is released after being charged with assaulting his girlfriend.

Troubled Coney Island basketball phenom Lance Stephenson didn't linger long in custody after he was busted for pushing his girlfriend down a flight of stairs. The 19-year-old point guard was released on his own recognizance Sunday and is due back in court Oct. 19.

Former Lincoln guard Lance Stephenson, who spent just one year at the University of Cincinnati before jumping to the NBA, signed a multi-year deal with the Pacers, who drafted him in the second round.
